I have a Boot Camp partition for windows that I want to remove and combine with Macintosh HD disk.

I tried it in Disk Utility first by resizing Boot Camp to a smaller size so my Mac would have more room. Turns out by shrinking Boot Camp it only created a new 'untitled' disk. So I pressed '
' to remove 'untitled' and Boot Camp's windows, which obviously didn't get removed.

Then I tried changing Boot Camp's format into 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)' the same as my Mac disk is, it worked, but Boot Camp now cannot be resized anymore, maybe because of a 16.8 MB partition 'Microsoft Reserved,' which Disk Utility cannot delete.

I have checked other answers for similar problems but my Boot Camp Assistant doesn't work, it just says 'The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition' when I click 'continue.'

I originally just wanted to resize the Boot Camp disk to a smaller size. Now it would be a huge help if anyone could tell me how to remove Boot Camp entirely because all my windows data was deleted anyways. Thanks.

I have a big problem. My Windows 8.1 install on Bootcamp has stopped working. When I boot, it tries to repair but fails. So I boot from disk and it says that I need to delete some files to create some more space on the windows partition. When I boot into the Mac and try to delete some files, they won't delete. If I try to copy my data from the windows partiton to a backup disk, some of them copy, but others do not (it says they can't copy as they are in use.
