This is a step-by-step guide of how to install the Homebrew Channel on your Wii console. The methods described in this tutorial covers the Smash Stack, Yu-Gi-OWNED!, Bathaxx, Return of the Jodi, Indiana Pwns, Eri HaKawai and Letterbomb exploits as these are the only methods working for 4.3; other methods of installing the Homebrew Channel for users with older System Menus are Bannerbomb and Twilight Hack.

With our Wii ISO direct download, you can explore its ‘party mode’ games on any device! The range of WII games is mind-blowing. At the moment there are more than 1500 games available for download, including 300+ exclusive titles. Company's hits like the New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Sports, Sports Resort, Play, became worldwide favorites. In the Music app on your Mac, choose Music Preferences, then click General. Click the “When a CD is inserted” pop-up menu, then choose an option: Show CD: Music opens the CD but doesn’t play or import it. Play CD: Music begins playing the CD without importing it. Import CD: Music automatically imports the CD. Import CD and Eject: Music imports the CD, then ejects it.

This tutorial applies to versions of the Wii System Menu ranging from 3.0 to 4.3. Older Korean Wiis can use Bannerbomb . The latest version of Wii System Menu is 4.3, therefore, this method should work for ALL USA, Japanese, Korean and PAL Wiis.

Smash Stack requires a copy of Super Smash Bros Brawl, and will work on all wiis.Indiana Pwns requires a copy of Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, and will work for NTSC-U, NTSC-J and PAL Wiis.Yu-Gi-OWNED! requires a copy of Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's Wheelie Breakers, it will only work on PAL Wiis. For NTSC-U and NTSC-J use Yu-Gi-Vah.Bathaxx requires a copy of LEGO Batman, and will work for NTSC-U, NTSC-J and PAL Wiis.Return of the Jodi requires a copy of the original Lego Star Wars game or the newer (1.01) release (NTSC or PAL).Eri HaKawai requires a copy of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, and will work for NTSC-U, NTSC-J and PAL Wiis.Letterbomb requires no game, and will work with any 4.3 wii.

About the Homebrew Channel

The Homebrew Channel is a self-updating (discontinued) application created by Team Twiizers, which allows users to easily load and use homebrew applications, without having to use exploits such as Bannerbomb or Twilight Hack every time they run a new application. After installation, the channel is accessible from the Wii Menu just like any other Wii channel. The channel can be deleted at any time through the Wii's 'Data Management' menu. The Homebrew Channel does not show up in the console's play logs, however this does not affect the Wii in any way whatsoever.

How To Download Cd To Mac Via Wii

Setting up Homebrew Channel

What is needed

  • A Wii console
  • An SD card (Check to see if yours is compatible)

Note: SDHC cards can only be used by the Letterbomb exploit. Otherwise you must have an SD card that is 2GB or less.

  • The HackMii installer
  • An exploit that matches your wii's version (and the game required to launch it, if necessary)
  • A computer (Windows, Linux, or MacOS)
  • An SD card reader for your computer

Part 1: Preparing the SD Card

(Smash Stack only): If you have any custom stages saved on the Wii (including the default ones), move them to the SD card or delete them. Then rename your private folder to privateold.

If you already have an SD card that is compatible with your Wii, you may be able to put all necessary files alongside the already existing files on your SD card given you have enough room. The Wii directory is called private, and you need to use a folder called private containing Indiana Pwns, Yu-Gi-OWNED!, Bathaxx, Return of the Jodi or Smash Stack to trick your Wii into thinking that it made the file these exploits use.

If you would like, you may rename your current private directory to any name. (I renamed mine privateold) Therefore, when you are finished with the hack, you can delete all hack files and rename privateold back to private to access all of your files again.

If you already have a compatible SD Card that has already been used in your Wii with a renamed private directory, you DO NOT have to format your SD card. Skip to the next step.

If you have a new SD card, or an SD card with no Wii files, it is recommended that you format it using the instructions below.

Important! This process will erase the data on the card and it is therefore recommended that you make a back-up copy of any data you may currently have on your SD card before continuing.

Windows
How to download music from cd to mac computer
  1. Open up My Computer.
  2. Right-click on the drive that contains the SD card and select Format....
  3. Under File system make sure you select FAT (see picture to the right).
  4. Click 'Start' and let the process finalize.
  5. After the formatting is finished proceed to the next step.
Mac OS
  1. Open up Disk Utility
  2. Find your SD card in the navigation.
  3. Go to the Erase tab.
  4. Change the Volume Format to MS-DOS (FAT).
  5. Click 'Erase' and let the process finalize.
  6. After the formatting is finished proceed to the next step.
Linux
  1. Open up a terminal.
  2. Execute the command 'mkfs.vfat /dev/<location of your SD card>'.
  3. Caution not to reformat your hard disk. Think hard before formatting /dev/sda1, for example.
  4. After the formatting is finished proceed to the next step.

Part 2: Copying files to SD card

  1. Ensure that the SD card slider is not in the Lock position.
  2. Download Indiana Pwns, Yu-Gi-OWNED!, Bathaxx, Return of the Jodi or Smash Stack (make sure you have the correct version for your Wii System Menu) and the HackMii installer.
  3. Extract both the exploit and HackMii installer in an easily accessible folder, such as your Desktop (pic. 1).
  4. Open up the folder called hackmii_installer_X ( where X relates to your version as shown in pic. 2).
  5. Copy file boot.elf[1] to your SD card (pic. 3).
  6. Finally, from the exploit archive, copy the folder called private to your SD card. Your SD card should look like pic. 4.

Contents That Should Be On Your SD Card:

  • private - Extracted From Indiana Pwns, Yu-Gi-OWNED!, Bathaxx, Return of the Jodi or Smash Stack
  • boot.elf - Extracted From The Hackmii Installer
  • (optional) privateold - The Wii's existing files renamed temporarily. (see 'Preparing the SD Card')
  • Extract the files to your Desktop

  • Copy boot.elf to your SD card

  • Copy folder private to your SD card

  • Your SD card should look like this in the end

Part 3: Setting up your Wii

Running Bootmii Through HBC

How To Download Cd To Mac Via Wii iso

If you're one of the late-comers to the Wii party you may have had to install BootMii via IOS.In that case you have to run BootMii by going into The HBC and hit the 'Home' button on your Wii Remote.Place your cursor onto the 'Launch BootMii' selection and press A.[2]

Extra Note
While in BootMii, you should back up your NAND memory. This is mainly for those who have installed bootmii as Boot2, but should still be done when installed as IOS. If you brick your Wii and have BootMii installed as IOS and have Priiloader installed, you might be able to recover your NAND by loading BootMii through Priiloader. When in BootMii, you will not have access to the wii-mote, so you will have to use a gamecube controller, or the buttons on the Wii itself. (power button is move cursor, reset button is select option.) THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE BOOTMII APPLICATION ITSELF, THE HACKMII INSTALLER DOES SUPPORT THE WIIMOTE.
Select the 4th option then hit A/Reset, then you are taken to a new option.
The first corresponds to the backing up of NAND memory, the second; 'injecting' NAND back into memory...
Select the first option (you must have at least 512MB of space on SD card to do so) to back up NAND.

How To Download Cd To Mac Via Wii Controller

To restore a corrupt NAND with an IOS BootMii:

  1. Load BootMii (The Homebrew Channel or Priiloader)
  2. Select the 4th option (with the gears)
  3. Select the 2nd option to restore the NAND
  4. Wait a while

Troubleshooting

When I insert my SD card to start the process nothing happens!

  • One of 4 things has happened:
  1. You didn't place the data on the SD card right.
  2. You went into the save game data menu instead of the channel menu.
  3. You need to set the archive bit of the privatewiititleaktncontent.bin.
  4. You need the next bannerbomb zip. Download the next one and start over.

OMG!! One of the selections is purple and says I can't install BootMii!!

  • You haven't read this page in detail, this is explained further up with a picture of the screen.

My Wiimote quit working when i loaded up BootMii! Why? and Can this be fixed?

  • You didn't read BootMii's FAQ or the README file located in the Hackmii installer archive.

Both state that you have to use a Gamecube controller or the Power/Reset/Eject buttons on the console. In order for this to be fixed a lot of coding will have to be done to make a custom Bluetooth stack and drivers for BootMii. This isn't on the top of the priority list.

I get Error -2 trying to install The Homebrew Channel or DVDx and Error -1 trying to install BootMii

How To Download Cd To Mac Via Wii Download

  • Your SD card slider is in the Lock position, so it is read only.

Will my Wavebird wireless controller work?

  • Yes, but you must hold any (unused) button when you start up your Wii.
(Wavebird wireless controller now supported in beta3)

Any other questions should be directed to the WiiBrew:FAQ. I'm human after all and can't remember every question that is asked but will update as necessary

  • Can Install BootMii as boot2

  • Can not install BootMii as boot2

If everything went as planned you should have everything installed and should select 'exit' and your Wii will load into the Homebrew Channel, Or into the system menu with The Homebrew Channel on the menu.

Notes

↑ 1. The other three files contain information that made the creation of this tutorial possible but are not needed in the actual installation and use of the HackMii Installer
↑ 2. Once you press A on your Wii Remote it will power off and be unusable. You have to use a GameCube controller plugged into slot #1, or the three buttons on the front of the console.

Nintendo has actually done a pretty good job with its PC Engine CD game library on the Wii Virtual Console—Hello Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo!—but there are still a tremendous number of great titles missing. Don't you wish you could somehow play them on your Wii?

How To Download Cd To Mac Via Wii

Wouldn't it be nice if you could play the PC Engine CD games you already own on your Wii without having to purchase the Virtual Console versions?

How cool would it be if you could give your trusty old Turbo Duo (or PC Engine) CD console a rest from all its hard work and play games for it on your Wii?

That's all very doable, and below you'll find a detailed guide with all the instructions. With a little Wii hacking, game ripping, and emulator (WiiMednafen) installing you'll soon be able playing all your PC Engine CD games on your Wii.

Requirements

Before you get too far into this guide, let's make sure you have everything necessary for success.

Don't be scared. There's nothing wrong with hacking your Wii. You don't need to be have a background in computer science. You just need to be thorough and follow directions carefully. Here's one of the best guides on the Internet for hacking the Wii: courtesy of wiihacks.com.

Conventiently, the TurboGrafx-16 Hardware Guide covers everything you need to know about the PC Engine Duo. Note that a Turbo Duo will also play CD games, even imports.

There are quite a few excellent CD games for this console, and most of them are imports. Consult the greatest games list for some of the top recommendations. Here are some favorites from my collection:

Any excuse to show off Working Designs products is a good one

If you don't PC Engine CD games and hardware that can play them, then you might as well stop reading now. This is not a guide on how to pirate games and play them on your Wii. This is a guide for how to make your Wii act like a PC Engine and play games that you own.

These CD-ROMs have a unique layout, combining both data and audio tracks, which gives most ripping programs fits. Fortunately, a fellow by the name of Nicolas Livaditis (aka NightWolve[sic]) wrote a fabulous little utility called TurboRip. It's incredibly accurate and fast. The latest, TurboRip 1.4, supports an insane range of operating systems: Win98, NT, 2K, XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10. Just in case you run into unforseen compatability issues, here are two older versions as well: TurboRip 1.0 (Win XP) and TurboRip 1.10 Beta (Vista, Win7).

As great as Turbo Rip is, you'll need to do some converting of audio files to make WiiMednafen happy. Since you're going to be doing a lot of converting, the one-file-at-a-time solutions are not going to cut it. One of the better solutions is Switch Sound File Converter, because it let's you convert large batches of files at once, and it includes a 14-day free trial.

Ripping Games

It doesn't get much easier than this:

-Insert the CD game of your choice
-Launch Turbo Rip
-Press the number for the correct optical drive, and hit return

Another great program I wish existed for Mac computers

Once it's done, you'll find the output in the TurboRip folder. There will be a folder with the name of the ripped game and in it you'll find a bunch of files with .toc (not necessary for our needs), .iso (data), .cue (guide to the layout of data and audio on the disc), .wav (audio) extensions.

Converting Audio Files

The .wav format takes up tons of space and isn't supported by WiiMednafen, so you need to convert them to the .ogg format.

When you're converting over a 100 audio files at once, something like Switch is essential

Switch Sound File Converter is extremely user-friendly. Add files and/or folders of .wav files as necessary. Choose the output format as .ogg, and then click 'Convert.' Once you've successfully done the converisons, you can delete the old .wav files. While converting to .ogg sucks up some time, it also saves you a ton of storage space. Take a look at this comparison:

How to download wii isos
Total Size with .wave Files
Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo
78 MB
697 MB
Gain Ground
53 MB
266 MB

Modifying the Cue Files

Since you've modified the audio files, you need the change the .cue accordingly. The original .cue points to .wav files, so you simply want to replace all instances of .wav with .ogg. By far, the best way to do this is to use Notepad++. That way you can open a whole bunch of .cue files for different games at once and then do one giant find/replace across all files you have opened in Notepad++. You can also do a find/replace for WAVE to OGG. If all has gone well, you should have transformed this:

Into This
Some PC Engine CDs are even composed of multiple .iso tracks!

Once you're done with the ripping, converting, and cue modifying, you can save all your digitized games wherever you find it most convenient on your SD card or USB drive. In terms of game locations, WiiMednafen is not picky about file structure.

Installing WiiMednafen

The best PC Engine emulator for the Wii is not HuGo-Wii or WiiEngine. It's actually the multi-system emulator known as WiiMednafen. Not only does the latter offer unrivaled compatibility with games (including Arcade Super CDs), but you can load games from a USB drive. So let's get this bad boy installed!

-Have a properly formatted SD card for Homebrew in your Wii
-Launch the Homebrew Browser
-Click on the 'Emulators' tab
-Click the 'A icon' on the right to sort by name
-Scroll down to 'WiiMednafen'
-Click to open it, and click to install
-Wait for it to download and extract

Finding the BIOS for WiiMednafen

How To Download Cd To Mac Via Wii U

Just two quick steps left before enjoying these games on your Wii. You need to put the system BIOS in the right place.

How To Download A Cd To Macbook Pro

-Google to find PC Engine System BIOS
-You should find something like CD-ROM System V3.00.pce or CD-ROM System V3.01.pce.
-Either one will do nicely
-Rename it to syscard3.pce
-Put it in the the WiiMednafen folder that was created at the root of your SD card when you installed WiiMednafen via the Homebrew Channel

Playing the Games
At last, after all your hard work, it's time to enjoy the games! WiiMednafen has a simple and minimalist layout. All you need to do is launch it, and navigate to the game of your choice. The only slightly tricky part is that you want to select the .cue file to launch the game.
While this early port of Mednafen for the Wii is not as fully featured as the PC version, it gets the job done quite well. That almost every PC Engine game uses just two button, the regular WiiMote makes a fine controller. Should you venture into six button territory, though, WiiMednafen has you covered as long as you use a GameCube or classic controller. You can even play games like Strider Hiryuu, which require the Arcade card.
